	Thomas & Mary BANCROFT were members in full communion of the First Church
in Reading, MA in 1720/21.  Thomas was a trustee of this church in 1721 & 1728. In 1728 Thomas in his capacity as town representative gave a portion of his pay to the town.#
 	 
	Thomas (3) was a Lt in the Reading militia and the following can be found
in the town records of Reading "1731 8 Nov Lt. Thomas BANCROFT our worthy
representative died of nervous fever.#
 	 
	Thomas wrote his will 16 Oct 1730 and it was probated 3 Dec. 1731.  He
named Mary, his wife; sons Thomas, Joseph, Benjamin & Jonathan BANCROFT;
grandson Edmund BANCROFT.  Thomas BANCROFT Jr.  was the executor and witnesses to the document were Samuel BANCROFT, Richard TEMPLE & Nathaniel STOW.  At his decease Thomas owned 61 acres of land valued at L740-0-0.  His personal estate came to L171-10-3.  The inventory of the estate was taken by Thomas EATON, Raham BANCROFT & Nathaniel STOW on 26 Mar 1732.#
 	 
	Thomas is buried in Wakefield, Mass. in the cemetery near the
Congregational Church. "Here lyes Buried ye body of Lieut.. Thomas BANCROFT
who Died November 9th, 1731 in ye 58 Year of his Age.#

	Thomas IV was probably the Thomas BANCROFT who witnessed the petition of
William BRYANT Jr. asking for permission to open a tavern in Reading on 6 July

	Thomas wrote his last will & testament 1 Sept. 1747 which names his wife
Lydia BANCROFT who was executrix; eldest son Thomas BANCROFT; sons Joseph & Moses BANCROFT; daughters Mary NICHOLS, Lydia NOICE, Abigail,Susanna, Elizabeth & Hannah BANCROFT.  The will was probated 1747/48.#
 
	Lydia Damonís will is dated 19 Oct. 1779 and was probated 1784.
Lydia's son Joseph BANCROFT was executor and she named her daughters Abigail
UPHAM, Elizabeth WOODMAN, Susanna CHASE & Mary NICHOLS deceased, Lydia NOICE deceased & Hannah GALE deceased; granddaughters Lydia GALE and daughters of Mary NICHOLS & Lydia NOICE.  Witnesses to the will were Lucy? BANCROFT, Caleb BANCROFT & Samuel BANCROFT.#

	Thomas BANCROFT was a farmer and an officer in the militia.
 	 
	His will was dated 8 Sept. 1763 and probated 28 Nov. of that year. Thomas
names his wife Phebe who was executrix of the estate; his sons Thomas, Daniel, William, Benjamin, Jacob; his daughters Phebe & Mary. Thomas' son Thomas Jr was to receive his grandmother DAMON's Bible upon her decease. The witnesses to the document were James BANCROFT,  Joseph BANCROFT & _____TOWNSEND.#
 
 On 19 June 1773, a petition was made to establish the Town of  Worcester as a separate  parish called thr South Parish with its own meetinghouse. Among the residents of Worcester signing this document were Daniel, David, Phoebe & William Bancroft# This was probably  Phebe, the widow of Thomas Bancroft and  her two sons William & Daniel.  David Bancroft was probably the father of Ebenezer Bancroft who was married to Phebe Bancroft Jr., daughter of Phoebe & Thomas Bancroft.   

	Phebe BANCROFT was living in Ward, MA (now the Town of Auburn, MA) in 1779
when she was named "guardian unto Jacob BANCROFT, minor son and heir of Thomas BANCROFT, late of Reading".  Phebe, William & Benjamin BANCROFT, all of Ward posted a bond of $500.  The witnesses to this document were William BANCROFT &____ELLIOT.#

	Jacob BANCROFT of Sutton, MA was a Soldier of the Revolution.  His name
can be found on a descriptive list of men raised to reinforce the Continental
Army for the term of six months, agreeable to the resolve of 5 June 1780.  He
was 17 years of age, 5'8" tall, of light complexion.  He arrived at Springfield, MA 27 July 1780 and marched to camp 28 July 1780 under command of Capt. Storer.#
 	 
	On 15 Feb. 1806 Jacob BANCROFT of Dana, MA for the consideration of $350
sold land, with dwelling house in Petersham, MA to John DUDLEY of Framingham,
MA.  Jacob and Lydia BANCROFT both signed the deed which was witnessed by John CHAMBERLAIN Jr. & Benjamin BANCROFT Jr, recorded 17 Feb. 1806.#  
 	 
	On 25 Jan. 1808 Jacob BANCROFT of Dana, yeoman, in consideration of the
sum of $80.00 from Nathaniel WILLIAMS of Dana, sold land in Dana.  Jacob &
Lydia both signed the deed which was recorded 26 Aug. 1809 and witnessed by
Stephen WHITE and Lydia BANCROFT 2d.#
