                     First Generation

	1.	DANIEL GALE, son of ABRAHAM GALE & ESTHER CUNNINGHAM   was born on 17 Jun 1721 in Weston, MA.*(1)   Daniel  died on 31 Dec 1796, ae 76 and  was buried Center Cemetery in Warwick, MA.  DANIEL married SARAH LAMSON  daughter of JOHN LAMSOM and SARAH RAND in Weston  on 8 Sep 1743.*(2)  Sarah  was born there on 28 Nov 1721. (3)  She died in Warwick Jul 1793. In 71st year of her age  and  was buried Warwick Center Cem .(4) 

Daniel Gale was in Warwick by the Year 1775 and and located on the old Winchester Road in the north end of  the town.(5)   This same year he served on the Committee of Correspondence. (6)

VT on  30 Mar 1832 ae 82.(8)   Sarah  married SAMUEL MELENDY  son of WILLIAM MELENDY and ELIZABETH LAMSON on 6 Dec 1770 in Sutton, MA.(9)   Samuel was born on 10 Nov 1741 in Reading, MA.(10)  He died on 20 Sep 1813,ae 72 in Guilford, VT. (11)

1790 VT cn  Guilford, Windham Co. 105  Samuel Melandy 2-4-6 

Samuel Melendy bought 100 acre lot No. 35 in Guilford in 1757 eight years before the first settlement in the town.  This is the first Guilford conveyance on record In 1783 he deeded this lot go Aaron Whitney who re-conveyed the property to him in 1785, at which time his residence is stated in the deed as of Guilford.  He died on the homestead in 1813. (12) 

He served in the Revolutionary  War In Capt. Shepardson's Co. Corporal  in Col. William's  NY Regt. (13)  

Rising Sun Keene NH 24 May 1796  - TO BE SOLD ON REASONABLE TERMS: A good stand for a blacksmith with a trip hammer and one and three fourths acre of land lying in Guilford, VT  on the Stage Road .  Inquire at Samuel Melendy dated  May 17, 1796 

(Vermont Gazette 20- Dec.. 1784 - Samuel, of Guilford, VT was one of those granted free pardons for all crimes hereuntofore committed for opposing the authority of Vermont (Vermont Gazette 20-Dec. 1784

DANIEL married ESTHER RICE  daughter of COMFRET RICE and MARTHA MORRIS.  Esther was born in Worcester, MA on 29 Dec 1755  (15)  She died in Petersham, MA  on 12 Aug 1848  (16) 

Daniel  served 8 mos. in Col. Jonathan Ward's Regt. at Cambridge in 1775, was at battle of  White Plains 28 Oct. 1776 and served in Col. Job Cushing's Regt  5 Sept. - 29 Nov. 1777. (17)

	7	F	vi.	ESTHER GALE  was born in Sutton, MA on 13 Jul 1755.  She died in Montague, MA on 21 Feb 1832 ,ae  76 (18).  Esther married PHIILIP GOSS  son of PHILIP SR. GOSS and HANNAH BALL in Winchester, NH on 13 Sep 1779. (19)   Philip  was born in Lancaster, MA on  17 Oct 1757. (20))   He died in Montague, MA on 23 Jun 1840, ae abt. 86. (21)
	8	M	vii.	NOAH GALE  was born in Sutton, MA on 20 Jul 1757.  He died Nov 1806 ae 49  Lost at sea near Block Island, RI.  His death was  memorialized on a  monument  at Burial Hill Cem. Plymouth MA. (22) NOAH married REBECKAH DUNHAM  daughter of NATHANIEL DUNHAM and ANN PETERSON in Plymouth, MA on 10 Mar 1787(23) .  Rebeckah was born  c1754.  She died on 10 Aug 1840 and  was buried Burial Hill Cem. in Plymouth, MA. (24)  Rebeckah married (1) JOHN CHASE   in Plymouth, MA 8 Aug. 1778.(25)  John died before 10 Mar 1787 when Rebeckah remarried

Will of Rebekah Gale was :dated 118 Apr. 1826, proved Plymouth 1 Dec. 1842  called widow Gale of Plymouth but lately of Salem  names sons Daniel, Nathan & Stephen Gale and John  Chase, grand- children George Winslow, Sally Ann and Rebecca Gale, children of son  George Gale deceased .  (26) 


	9	M	viii.	JOHN GALE  was born in Sutton, MA on 27 Jan 1759   He died in Chesterfield, NH on 25 Jul 1820.(27)   JOHN married MARTHA (Patty) MARBLE  probably the daughter of BENJAMIN MARBLE and MARTHA GOSS in Warwick, MA on 22 Feb 1787. (28)   Martha was born in Bolton, MA on 6 Oct 1758. (29)

Private in Capt. Eldad Wright’s Co. of minutemen, Col. Samuel William's Regiment which marched  20 Apr 1775 in response to the alarm of 19 Apr 1775 from Northfield and Warwick to Cambridge, served  21 days (35).  He served as selectman in Warwick in 1788.(36)   Jonathan Gale & his son Amory  established a blacksmith shop with a trip hammer on Mirey Brook  and manufactured axes and tools. (37)   The first hearse for the town of Warwick was provided by Jonathan Gale in 1793  when Lt. Jonathan Gale "empowered to provide a funeral carriage" (38)

Know all these men by these present, that I Amory Gale of Warwick, in the county of Franklin, 
Commonwealth of Massachusetts Yeoman being of sound disposing mind and memory, do make and publish this my last will and testament  as follows (viz) First I give and bequeath to my beloved wife  Lucinda Gale my household furniture, and also the use of my undivided half of the homestead place and  two cows, instead of her dower or thirds during her natural life.  Second - I give and bequeath to my  oldest son Amory Gale Jr.  in addition to what I have heretofore given him the sum of five dollars.  Third - I give to my only daughter Lucinda Bancroft  the sum of fifty dollars. Fourth - I give to my grandson  Jonathan G. Gale  the sum of ten dollars if he should live to become of age. Fifth I give and bequeath to  my second son Jacob R. Gale all my estate real and personal not herein before bequeathed and divided , of whatsoever name or nakture  wherever the same may be found to have and to hold the same to him and his heirs and assigns forever.  and lastly I do constitute and ordain  my said son Jacob R Gale sole executor of this my last will and testament  In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal, and publish and declare this to be my last will and testament in presence of the witnesses named  below this eighteenth day of August in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and forty nine  Amory  Gale Witnesses: Paul Jillson. Codicil: I  Amory Gale named as the testator in the will to which this is annexed having purchased a tract  of land of  Isaac Hastings laying partly in Warwick and partly in Winchester New  Hampshire. since making the forgoing will; do hereby make this present codicil , which  I do ordain  and direct shall be taken as a part  of my annexed last will and testament. Amory Gale Jr  received  a degree of doctor of medicine from Brown University in 1824 and was  ordained an evangelist  minister a few years later.  When he retired from the ministry he returned to the practice of medicine and in 1850 he worked as a homoeopathist in Rhode Island.  In 1853 ill health forced him to leave medicine and he retired to Medway Massachusetts where he spent the remainder of his life. (22)

Greenfield Gazette & Courier 24 Aug. 1874 Jasper A. Gale  who sold out his farm a few years since  and moved to Framingham has  recently bought the Lawrence  farm.   He  thinks there is no place as healthy as Warwick.

Keene NH Sentinel Apr  1923)  J. A. Gale one of the oldest residents of this town, passed  away at his home on Parker street Sunday evening, after an  illness of four weeks with heart trouble.  Jasper Amory Gale was born in Warwick, Mass. Sept 2, 1837, son of  Jacob R. & Alma Leland Gale.  He spent the first of his life in that town and engaged in the lumber business.  In 1876 he married Miss Emma E. Gove of Warwick and they came to to Winchester about 40 years ago.  Mr. Gale was an honorable citizen and respected by all who knew him, and was an active worker in the  Universalist church   Besides his  widow he leaves two sons Dr. Frank J. Gale of Westboro, Mass. and Lyman A. Gale of  this town. Funeral will be held at the home at 2 o'clock, Wednesday  afternoon  Rev. E. R. Walker officiating.          

A "very rich sofa cushion was donated to the  "levee" (56)   of the Central Church in  Warwick drawn by Mrs. A.L. Albee (Greenfield Gazette & Courier 4 Jan. 1875     

Keene NH Sentinel Dec. 1937  Mrs. Emma E.  Gale, 91, widow of  Jasper A. Gale of  Winchester and well known resident of that town for for more than 50 years died in this  City Thursday night.   The funeral will be held in the  Community Church  Sunday afternoon at 1 with  Rev. George T. Carl, pastor of the Federated church officiating.  Mrs. Gale was born  in Bernardston, Mass. February 27, 1846, a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Charles Gore.*  Mrs. Gale spent about 50 years in Winchester where she was active in the church and  community.  She was formerly a member of Order of the Eastern Star in Winchester   Mrs. Gale had been a member of the family in the  Invalids Home in Keene about 10  years. Her husband was a former businessman in Winchester where he conducted a grocery store .  She is survived by a son Lyman A. Gale of Winchester and  two grandchildren Gordon Gale of Danielson, Conn. and Miss Francis Gale of Wolcott N .Y.
