First Generation
1. RICHARD Sr. PARK was born about 1602 in England. He died in 1665 in Cambridge,
Middlesex Co., MA.1
Richard Park came to the Colonies in the Ship DEFENSE in July of 1635,
passenger list reading "(A Miller) Richard PERK, age 33, Margery PERK, age 40,
Isabell PERK, age 7, and Elizabeth PERK, age 4".2
Richard Park lived in Cambridge, MA where in 1639 he owned one house upon
the cow common with half an acre of ground abutted by Perifiaull Greene, west; John
Wilcock, east; the swamp on the north-east and the cow common on the south west. A
transcript of the houses and lands of the residents of Cambridge dated in 1642 showed
that Richard owned one dwelling house on the common with outhouses and about half
an acre of land more or less, abutted by Nathaniel Sparrowhack on the east; Hellen
Green on the west; the pyne swamp on the north; and the common on the south. In
1647/48 he had 14 acres laid out to him and another parcel of 11 acres abutting upon
Edward Jackson's land east & west and the highway and the highway to Dedham
passing through the land .3
Richard served as a selectman in 1656 and a commissioner to lay out
highways in 1657. 4
Richard Park's will is dated 12 July 1665 and mentions his loving wife,
two daughter (not named) and son Thomas Park. The document was witnessed
by Hugh Maxon and Elder? Wiswell. The inventory was taken 19 Oct 1665. 5

1615. She died on 26 Apr 1691 in Plymouth, MA in her 76th year.11 Sarah was also

Second Generation
2. RICHARD Jr. PARK (RICHARD Sr.) was born about 1628 in England. He died
1715/1728.
This Richard Park lived in the towns of Cambridge, Sherborn, Concord and
Weston in the State of Massachusetts.
The following land records for Richard & Mary are given in aforementioned
Parke Genealogy:
(1) On 14 Oct. 1678 Richard Parks of Cambridge, planter and his wife Mary
conveyed to Joseph Wilson "all that tract of land on which I have errected my
now dwelling house in Cambridge Village on the south side of Charles River,
being six acres and bounding Noah Wiswall, Daniel Preston, Thomas Wise Thomas
Hammond, James Trowbridge & Deliverance Jackson (Middlesex Deeds 8:64)
(2) On 18 Mar 1686/7 Richard & Mary Park conveyed land in Sherborne to
Daniel Bigelow (Middlesex Deeds 8:516).
(3) Richard Park purchased land from Nathaniel Billings consisting of 18
acres of upland on 26 May 1687.
(4) On 9 Apr. 1711 Richard Parks Sr. & Mary his wife and John Parks and
Deliverance, his wife, sold land to Richard Parks Jr. - all parties of Concord, MA.
Richard Park died between the years 1715 and 1727/28. On 30 Aug. 1715
Richard Parks and Mary his wife, both being aged and impotent persons, being
inhabitants of Concord, were warned out of town .14
In the Year 1727/8 John Parks, then of Killingly, CT gave up his right to the property
where his deceased father Richard Parks did formerly dwell in southerly part of
Concord.15

3. THOMAS PARK (RICHARD Sr.) was born about 1628/1629 in England. He died on 11
Aug 1690 in Newton, Middlesex Co., MA.17
Thomas probably came to the Colonies with his parents on the DEFENSE
although his name is not on the passenger list. He resided in Cambridge
Village, now Newton, MA where he was a farmer. On 12 Apr. 1665 he served as a
constable in Cambridge .18 He was a freeman there on 31 May 1671.19 Thomas Park
was assessed for three persons and estate by the Newton commissioners in the Year
1658.20 He had part interest in a corn mill.21
Abigail Park granted administration of her husband's estate on 8 Oct.
1690 with John & Edward Park principals and Henry Spring surety. The
estate was divided 12 Mar. 1693/94. Thomas' sons JOHN, EDWARD, RICHARD,
& JONATHAN PARK; his daughters Abigail FISKE, Sarah KNAPP, Rebecca
SANGER and Elizabeth PARK received land. One of the clauses in division of
property read "Each child shall have free liberty to goe with horse or cart as they have
ocation to improve theire _____lands or other wise if need shall be provided
and care be taken not to doe damage to each other _____by leaving open gates or
bars or any other way." The estate was divided by William Bond, Isaac Williams,
Nathan Fisk, Samuel Thatcher, Samuel Jenmison22
THOMAS married ABIGAIL DIX, daughter of EDWARD DIX and JANE, on 1 Dec
1653 in Newton, Middlesex Co., MA.23 Abigail was born on 21 May 1637 in Watertown,
Middlesex Co., MA.24 She died on 3 Feb 1691 in Newton, Middlesex Co., MA.25 SEE

This Richard Park lived in Newton and Concord, Massachusetts. He was a
Lt. in the militia, served as a representative of the Town of Concord and was a
selectman in1714 He had an interest in a saw mill in Sudbury, MA.54
Richard's will was dated 8 June 1725 and probated 12 July 1725. He
mentioned his sons JOSEPH, JOSIAH, JONATHAN, ISAAC, EPHRAIM,
DANIEL & ZACCHEUS; wife ELIZABETH; daughters ELIZABETH
FASSETT, SARAH POST, ABIGAIL FISH, HANNAH PARKS, & REBECCA
PARKS. Widow Elizabeth Parks was the executrix with Benjamin Brown & his
brother Thomas Garfield as overseers. Witnesses to the document were Joseph
Brooks, Stephen Wilson & Edward Flint 55

NATHANIEL BILLINGS OF CONCORD MASSACHUSETTS & HIS FAMILY
First Generation
1. NATHANIEL BILLINGS was born say 1615 probably in England. He
died on 24 Aug 1673 in Concord, Middlesex Co., MA.102 He is probably buried in
the Old Mill Burying Ground where there is a stone in his memory.103
Nathaniel was a freeman in Concord, MA 2 June 1641.104 In 1666 he owned 5 lots
consisting of 51 acres south of Amos Baker in Concord, upon which he
paid a tax of 1-6-8 .105
The inventory of Nathaniel's estate was taken 16 Sept. 1673 by ? ? and
Robert Merriam.106
The name of Nathaniel’s wife is not known.

John Billings lived in Concord, Mass. where he owned six lots consisting of 185 acres
south of Amos Baker on which he paid a tax of l-1-4 in the year 1666.108 On 7 Dec.
1703 John Billings deeded all of his property to his "only surviving son Samuel" with
the proviso that Samuel care for him during the remainder of his life109 On this same
day John deeded 50 acres of land in Concord to his daughter Sarah Hunt.110

John Hastings of Cambridge, Massachusetts
First Generation
1. JOHN HASTINGS was born say 1600 in England. He died 2 Dec. 1657 in Cambridge,
Middlesex Co., MA.131
John Hastings, a tanner, lived in Braintree, MA in 1643 and was a freeman
there on 10 May 1643.132 John Hastings was dismissed from the Church
of Braintree and joined the First Church of Cambridge Feb. 1656.133 On 10 June 1649
the Town of Cambridge granted John Hastings liberty to mow the common meadow for
hay.134 John was a constable on 13 Nov. 1653 and on 13 Oct. 1656 he was a
surveyor of highways. He also had liberty to cut timber on the common to repair
fences135
John Hastings resided on the easterly corner of Brattle & Ash Streets, the
former homestead of Thomas Bringham which he purchased 5 Mar. 1654.136
John Hastings' will was dated 26 July 1657 and probated 7 Nov. 1657. His
son Walter & wife Anne Hastings were executors and Deacon John Bridges &
Thomas Danforth were named as overseers. The heirs were wife Anne, sons Walter,
Samuel & John; daughter Elizabeth; daughter-in-law Mary Mean, son-in-law
William Buttrick. Witnesses to the document were Nathaniel Green & Thomas
Danforth.137
The name of John Hasting’s first wife is not known.

before 31 Dec 1685.

JOHN also married (2) ANN MEAN. Ann was born about 1606. She died 25 Mar 1666,M
Age About 60 in Cambridge, Middlesex, MA.139 Ann married (1) JOHN MEAN who died
19 Mar. 1645/46 in Cambridge, MA140 Ann Hastings’ inventory was taken by Thomas
Fox and Edward Lytell and amounted to 47:17.-0 There is a document in her probate file
which reads “To the honored Court assembled at Cambridge - whereas it hath planned the
Lord to take away by death , Ann Hastings, widdo, and she not made a will to dispose of
what she had while she lived, we Walter Hastings and Samuel Hastings marrying her two
daughters do consent with the ___ of the honored court ___ ____ she left ____ property
unto us, yett upon consideration we are willing that John Hastings and Elizabeth Billings
should have out of that estate ten pounds between them signed Walter Hastings and John
Hastings, not dated, 141
