1. THOMAS1 PRATT was born say 1630 probably in England and died 1692 in Sherborn, Middlesex Co., MA. He married say 1655, SUSANNA GLEASON perhaps daughter of THOMAS & SUSANNAH GLEASON of Watertown.(1)
 
	Thomas Pratt of Watertown may be the same as the Thomas Pratt  in Sherborn
MA.  In 1652 Thomas Pratt of Watertown was admitted freeman.(2)  He also took the oath of Fidelity.(3) Thomas may have come from London as  in August of 1650 a court case ensued: Thomas Boylston vs Thomas Pratt for withholding money sent to him by his uncle of London.  John Sanger testified that Boylston's uncle in 1648 told him he had assigned his house and lands to Pratt to be held in trust for Thomas Boylston's children.(4) 
 	 
	On 20 Jan. 1679 Thomas Pratt Sr. of Sudbury, MA purchased from Thomas
Eames 30 acres of land on Pratt�s  Plain. (5) Pratt's Plain lay east of the central village distant about a mile.(6)  Thomas was among the grantees for building a town at Worcester, MA but this plan was stopped by Indian problems.(7)  Thomas Pratt's name was on a list of persons to be inhabitants of Sherburne, Mass. since its incorporation with the date of admission - Thomas Pratt Sen 2 Mo. 1679.(8) Thomas had religious privileges in Sherborn.(9) Thomas'  widow Susannah and son John Pratt were appointed administrators of the estate in 1692.  An inventory was taken 26 Sept. 1692 amounting to L142.2.The three youngest children Jonathan, David & Jabez were named in the estate papers.(10)

6. JOHN2 PRATT (THOMAS1), born say 1655, date of death unknown. He married abt.1690, RUTH (---). 
 
	In 1677 John Pratt settled on Pratt's Plain in Framingham, MA. z(31)  His name was also on a list of the first settlers of Westborough, Mass where he lived in Thomas Rice's Garrison House on the Old Mill Road.(32) In 1693 John signed a petition of inhabitants to obtain an act of incorporation of the town of Framingham.(33)  He signed another petition in Framingham to ascertain territorial rights.(34)  He was selected fence viewer in Framingham on 3 Mar 1707.(35) John also served as selectman in Framingham in 1709.Z(36)
 	 
	On 17 June 1710 he paid taxes in Framingham in the amount of 02 shillings
04 pence. (37)  John purchased Nov 1694 from Samuel Howe Sr. of Sudbury, MA 50 acres of Gookin & Howe land comprising the Otis F. Hastings homestead  and Ezra Rice place and built the old Ezra Rice house and sold  to his brother Joseph Pratt in 1710 and removed either to Marlborough or Westborough, MA.(38)

He married on 12 Dec 1722in Sudbury, Middlesex Co., MA,(51) ANNA ALLEN, born 7 Nov 1702 in Sudbury, Middlesex Co., MA (52); daughter of ELNATHAN ALLEN and MERCY RICE.  Anna was deceased by 29 June 1757 when a document in her husband's probate papers regarding her dower rights in Amos Pratt's real estate called her Anna Pratt late of Shrewsbury deceased.(53)
 
	Amos Pratt resided in Shrewsbury, Mass. where his children were born. He
was admitted to the Shrewsbury Church in 1734 and his wife was admitted in
1727.  He signed a petition regarding the admittance of Simion Goddard to the
Shrewsbury Church in 1735.(54) 
 	 
	Anna Pratt was appointed administrator of the estate of her late husband Amos Pratt of Shrewsbury, Ma on 13 July 1748.(55)
 	 
	Amos Pratt died intestate.  His estate papers name his heirs as Anna Pratt widow, eldest son Elnathan Pratt, sons Isaac & Alpheus Pratt, daughters  Marcy the wife of Jotham Death, Anna & Mary Pratt.  Amos Pratt�s inventory was taken 31 Jan 1748/49 by Joseph Mixer, John Keys & Daniel Hemingway and amounted to 2268-19-06.(56).  Guardianship records dated 1749 exist  for  Alpheus, Anna, Mary & Mercy Pratt at Worecester MA Probate Court.

	Alpheus was an Ensign in the Revolution serving in Capt. Seth Newton's Company, Col. Jonathan SMITH's Regiment (no year given).(117)
 	 
	The name of Alpheus Pratt can be found in the land records of Marlboro, VT among them being a deed whereby Alpheus sold land to Asa Pratt, both of Marlboro, for 45 pounds on 5 June 1798, deed witnessed by Jonas Anthony &Orlin Pratt.  This same day he sold land to Orlin Pratt.(118)

Sybil was living on 10 Dec. 1825.(140)
 
	Asa Pratt came with his parents to Marlboro, VT where he signed the Freeman's Oath 2 Sept. 1794.(141)  Asa purchased 50 acres of land in Dummerston, VT for the sum of $600 from Benjamin Whitney on 7 Oct. 1798.  Asa was called a resident of Marlboro, VT on the deed which was witnessed by John Jenkes & Joseph Olds.(142)   In 1802 he paid a tax of 1 pound 74 shillings in the town of Dummerston.(143) On 24 Aug. 1804, Asa purchased 5 acres of land, part of Lot #1, from James Johnson.  The purchase price was $200 and the deed was witnessed by Simon Stevens & Asa French.(144)  Asa Pratt of Dummerston, VT sold land to Thomas Clark part of Lot #1, for $1100 on 15 Apr. 1815, witnesses Marshall Miller & James Sargent.(145) On 7 Apr. 1832 Caleb Higgins quit-claimed a building which was being used for a shoemaker's shop to Asa Pratt - witnesses John Stearns & Marshall Miller.(146)  On 27 Apr. 1832 for the sum of $10 Joseph DIX sold a parcel of land to Asa Pratt in Dummerston, witnesses John Stearns & Marshall Miller.(147) On 10 Dec. 1825 Asa Pratt Sr. leased his land except for dwelling house and cooper's shop to Daniel B. Buck & Asa Pratt  Jr.  The agreement was that Asa Jr & Daniel Buck take care of Asa Sr & his wife (not named) in exchange for the land.  The following was part of the agreement, "And it is further understood and agreed that the said Daniel B. Buck and Asa Pratt Jr. shall pay to Major, Edward & Maria children of the said Asa Pratt twenty dollars on their arriving to the age of twenty-one years etc." Witnesses to this lease were Samuel E. ? & D. Elliot  There are other land records in Dummerston for Asa which are not mentioned here but the last deed involving Asa Pratt Sr. was a document whereby Asa Pratt Sr. in 1841  sold his dweling house and shop to Isaac KNAPP for the sum of $45.00.  This was the parcel of land upon which the aforementioned buildings were situated.  The deed was witnessed by Asa Boyden & ASA Knight.(;148)

Orlin lived in Shrewsbury, MA and came to Marlboro VT with his parents about 1773.  He lived in Marlborough the early years of his life and then removed to Brattleboro.

The Last will and testament of Orlin Pratt of Brattleboro is dated 19 Dec. 1815 and was probated 23 Feb. 1816.  He left his mother Lydia Pratt �a comfortable maintenance �out of the estate and his wife Lucy Pratt, three sons namely Alfred, Rufus and Orlin Jr. and only daughter Betsy Pratt inherited his real and personal property.  His wife Lucy and Levi Goodenough were named executors.(154)

	E.M. PRATT died Monday morning from an attack of pneumonia.   He was very
ill with the disease last winter but was hearty and quite recovered, but a cold
brought on the fatal attack.  He had been for many years a resident of
Manchester and formerly kept the Depot restaurant.  He leaves a wife and one
daughter Mrs. J.C. Blackmor well known throughout the state as president of the W.R.C.and Grand Matron of the O.E.S. (206)
