MATTHEW married JOAN. Joan was buried on 19 May 1612 in Bocking, Eng.2

	5.	MATTHEW WHIPPLE (MATTHEW) was born about 1590. He died on 28 Sep 1647
in Ipswich, MA.4

Matthew's will was dated 3 m 7 d 1645.  The document mentions eldest son John
Whipple, sons Matthew & Joseph, daughters  Mary, Anna & Elizabeth, Rev. elders
Nathaniel Rogers & John Norton, the poor of Ipswich (received 40 shillings)brother
John Whipple.  Executors were Nathan Rogers, Robert Payne & John Whipple. A
codicil was made 9th mo.13th day 1645 due to Matthew's marriage and gives his wife
Rose the sum of 10 pounds and the estate that was hers prior to her marriage to
Matthew.5

MATTHEW married (1) ANNE HAWKINS , daughter of JOHN HAWKINS about 1620
in England. Anne was born about 1600.6 She died about 1643.7

                         Third Generation

	18.	JOSEPH WHIPPLE (MATTHEW, MATTHEW) was born about
1640. Joseph was living 7 May 1709 when when he deeded land for love and affection
to his son James Whipple.10 His sons James, Matthew & Jonathan deeded land in
1717 and Joseph is called deceased.11  He supposedly died on 20 Nov 1708/1709 in
Ipswich, MA.12

It is difficult to document information about this Joseph’s life as there are several Joseph 
Whipples in the Ipswich area at the same time and which record belongs to which
Joseph is uncertain.

In 1664 Joseph may be the Joseph who had a share in Plum Island.13  On 2 Dec. 1679
Joseph Whipple is listed as a freeman.14  Joseph Whipple signed the loyalists’ position
in 1666. 15  On  23 Feb. 1673, Joseph Whipple, ex Uxor came into full communion
with the church. 16

Joseph was involved in a court case in Ipswich - Joseph Whippel Sr. of Ipswich vs
Joseph Maserey debt dated 16: 9:1683 17

JOSEPH married (1) SARAH. Sarah died on 16 Jul 1676 in Ipswich, MA.18

	20.	JOSEPH WHIPPLE (JOSEPH, MATTHEW, MATTHEW) was born on 31 Oct 1666
in Ipswich, MA.

Joseph Whipple came to Salem from Ipswich about 1691 and lived in the middle of
present day Maple St. westerly of Whipple's Bridge in Danvers .26

On 31 Dec. 1726 Joseph & Sarah Whipple for love conveyed to their son Joseph
Whipple, yeoman, l/2 of the house and land on its western side. 27  They conveyed the
rest of the house and barn and land to son Joseph on 2 Dec. 1734.28   


JOSEPH married SARAH HUTCHINSON, daughter of JOHN HUTCHINSON and
SARAH PUTNAM, say 1691 in Salem, MA. Sarah was born about 1673 in Salem, Essex
Co., MA.
